American River Parkway Adventure

Fall Color Report, Gold Country

The American River Parkway is a nature preserve that bisects Sacramento County from Folsom Lake State Recreation Area, 32-miles to the Sacramento River. Along its 32-mile length runs the Jedediah Smith Memorial Trail, a multi-use paved path that is a favorite of cyclists, runners, equestrians and anyone in search of a beautiful walk.

On Thanksgiving Day, color spotter John Poimiroo was riding with the American River Bike Patrol and sent this video that captures glimpses of iridescent Fremont cottonwood, California grape, western sycamore Oregon ash, various willow and black walnut along the path beside Lake Natoma in Folsom.
