Rock Creek Lake and the surrounding area is at Peak, with some spots past peak, so you should not wait for this location. It won’t last long.

Color spotter Barbara Richter paddled her kayak on Rock Creek Lake on Monday and viewed what she claimed were the last of the fall colors there, from the water.

“Much of it was already done around the lake and above, but down canyon still has some beautiful color,” she added.

On her way home she drove Old U.S. 395 to specifically see the trees in front of the old Forbes 40 Resort. She claimed that they did not disappoint.

Color spotter Michael Kwok also drove up Rock Creek Road earlier this week and saw that the upper elevations (above 8,500′) were at peak.
