Color spotter Lucas Yan visited Nevada City and the Deer Creek Tribute Trail on Oct. 26 and found an interesting progression of color in the area this year.
“It’s about 50% but the leaves on many of the trees are wilting before turning color and the color progression is very uneven compared to past years,” Yan said. “Deer Creek Tribute is about the same.”
It still set the tone for some beautiful photographs. Perhaps the difference this year was a drier spring and summer than in year’s past, which has changed fall’s progression in different ways around the state.
Mark this spot as a place to visit in the next week or two.
