A year ago, on November 7, color spotter Philip Reedy drove up Highway 50 past Kyburz and Ice House Road, and the colors were great.
Yesterday, 364 days later, he made the same drive and the trees were almost all bare.
Perhaps the rain on Wednesday was just too much for them, he pondered.
Not willing to give up, Reedy and his friend, John, decided to explore Apple Hill, where they found a lot of nice colors.
“Larsen Road is particularly nice as the trees and vineyard pictured were all along that road,” Reedy said.
Highway 50 – Peak to Past Peak. GO NOW! You almost missed it.

hi my name is Emily, I’m 61 years old and live in Santa Clara, California.
Spending an extended amount of time on the east coast to watch the turning of the leaves is a top busketlist item of mine.
I ran across an article in Brisk Magazine and this article recommended your website to chase the fall colors locally. I have to say what a wonderful idea.
I look forward to updates of places I can spend a beautiful fall day.
