Convict Lake is looking lovely wrapped in golden hues.
Photographer Lynelle White visited on Oct. 2 and found changes in the aspen trees as well as the rabbitbrush.
The area was patchy then but over the weekend has continued to progress. There were “more color changes closer to Convict Creek and near the trail that goes around the lake,” White said. And lots of deer roaming in the area.
Michelle and Scott Quirsfeld took their new puppy, Sancho to Convict Lake on Sunday, Oct. 5 and found the trees and bushes along the pathway at the lake continuing to shift.
This area will be at peak in the next week so make plans to visit soon.

I love your photography of all my favorite places in the eastern Sierras. I have gone there every year for 66 years. My favorite hike for beauty and ease reaching higher elevation is to take the water taxi to the end of Saddlebag Reservoir and then hike the 12 lakes under the Conness. Glacier. The much longer and harder hike but ultimately the most rewarding is to Thousand Island Lake out of Agnew Meadows. I assume you have been to all of these places. Have you been to the Sparkplug Mine out of the town of White Mountain? If not send me an email and I will explain how best to get there and my name is in the guest book.
