Images of the infamous North Lake in Bishop Creek Canyon from two excellent photographers arrived in our inbox this week.
We were blown away by the beauty and also the urgency to GO NOW!
“These were taken Tuesday evening September 30, just before sundown,” said Gary Young of his images. “The colors are fantastic this year and it looks like North Lake won’t last too many more days. Go now!”
Steve Shinn’s images were from Oct. 1, but his message was the same.
“The aspens were at PEAK and North Lake was the best that I, and several long time locals, have seen,” he said.
The weather is tricky right now he added, so plan accordingly.
North Lake (9,225′) – Peak (75 – 100%), GO NOW!

Thanks to everyone involved for these beautiful photos! This spot is amazing and is a revolving color palate for many weeks during autumn. Hopefully with my non-changeable accommodations next weekend, this will still be there!
Nature has bestowed human and animal kinds with splendour that is unsurpassable. We, on the other hand, in return for such favour, should do our part to maintain that precious gift for the current generations and the ones who will come after us to share such an unmeasurable pleasure.
