Luca Soares visited Virginia Lakes last weekend and his report adds to the growing list of places that have already begun their fall color journey this year.

Patches of aspens are already yellow and were looking lovely against the clear, blue skies.

  1. Hello, I booked a trip with my parents on the weekend Oct 11. According to my last trips, this should be a good time, but with the colors showing earlier this year, do you have any more experienced opinions on if we will “miss it” by then? much thanks!

    • Hi Patrick, this season seems to be off to a fast start, so you may be at the tail end of color at Virginia Lakes by Oct. 11. The good news is that Mono and Inyo counties are full of fall color spots that will still be popping at this time so you may just have to drive a short distance to another location. Rest assured your trip won’t be wasted at that time (barring any major weather events, of course).
