Highway 38 is Great

Color spotter Lisa Wilkerson-Willis took a drive up Highway 38 last weekend through Angelus Oaks, Barton Flats, and the Seven Oaks area in the San Bernardino National Forest.

She captured some great photos from Jenks Lake Road in Barton Flats where there is definitely color. “There seemed to be more color the higher I went up,” she observed. “But it looks as if the color has been going for a while now because there were tons of leaves on the ground and not that much green on the trees that I saw.”

It snowed in the area last Friday, and it’s been cold during the nights, she added. “Today (Nov. 17) was a bit crisp and fresh while I was up there, so I don’t expect the color to last very long.”

When she drove back into town, she drove past Seven Oaks and that area was absolutely gorgeous, also filled with oaks turning color.
