Color spotter Shishir Iyer found the fall colors currently peaking in the higher elevations of Southern California.

Iyer took a trip to Volcan Mountain Wilderness Preserve earlier this week and found the black oaks turning in the hills. This is a GO NOW! location for those in Southern California.

Volcan Mountain is located near Julian in San Diego County. According to sdparks.org, you can hike to the summit for spectacular views from the desert to the coast. It is a roughly 5-mile round-trip hike that is considered moderately-difficult, with steep inclines.
