Wildlife and Wow Factor in the Eastern Sierra

Gary Skipper II has a keen eye for color and wildlife and during a recent visit to the Eastern Sierra, right before the recent storm, he captured a bit of both.

“First stop was Virginia Lakes,” he said. “I didn’t go for color but did see some nice color on the lower part of the road still,” including an adorable pika on a colorful rock.

He went to Lundy Lake next. “I am not sure how it is now because of the wind but the campground, near the dam, and parts of the canyon still had nice color [on 10/27/24].” And the tiny birds in the area were surveying the scene.

Last but not least, he visited the June Lake Loop. Rush Creek was a good hike for seeing fall color plus many areas along the stream before Silver Lake were showing beautiful color.

We are waiting to see what things look like after the storm, but for now we’ll relish in these beautiful photos of vibrant color.
