Mist Falls Takes The Stage

Mist Falls in Bishop Creek Canyon is making its entrance into the fall color scene for 2024. While other areas such as South Lake and North Lake are peaking or moving toward past peak, this waterfall, which can be seen roadside, is ready for the spotlight.

Color spotter Gary Skipper II visited the falls last weekend and found it to be the most free flowing he has seen in the fall.

“It should be excellent for color soon, there is a lot of green but it provides nice contrast,” he said.

Many areas along the South Lake entry road and near Mist Falls were showing good color, according to Skipper, although South Lake, itself, was mostly past peak and not as good as other places in Bishop Creek.

Sabrina Lake was also mostly gone on the lake itself but had excellent color between the lake and the road, according to Skipper.

North Lake had some nice color near the middle parking lot and along the further part of the access road. The lake, itself, looked great around 9:30-10 am, with excellent all-around views from near the top of the access road.
