Photographer and color spotter Lucas Yan was on the move this weekend from Inyo to Mono County and back again.
Yan visited North Lake twice during the weekend. On Saturday’s trip he went from North to McGee Canyon and on up to Bodie, stopping at Dunderberg Meadows along the way. It’s a great itinerary for a day trip – full of color but very doable.
“I went to North Lake again around 7:30 am (perfect time to get a lake reflection since the lake is calm, but I like the photo from yesterday with the clouds better – see below), then went up to McGee, and finished the day at Bodie around 3:30 PM passing by Dunderberg Meadows via US-395 on the way there,” Yan explained.
Yan reported that McGee Creek Canyon and Dunderberg are at 75%.
“Bodie doesn’t really have any trees but the grass and the shrubbery are a nice gold color so I feel that is the best it gets (the few aspens on the sides of the hills surrounding the state park were a mix of leafless and slight green probably from the high winds),” he said.
