Mono County really knows how to start a party. The high elevations throughout the area are always the first to kick off the seasonal color change and color then trickles down from there throughout the season.

This year was especially exciting with a cold weather snap the week before the autumn equinox, setting things up to dramatically change in the next few weeks. Now, with beautiful weather for the foreseeable future, it’s time to get out and explore the beauty that Mother Nature displays so well.

There are areas such as Tioga Pass, that are already Near Peak, according to some color spotters and others such as Lundy Canyon that are Just Starting, but overall the most beautiful season of change has begun. We are excited to share the journey across the state with everyone again this year.

Happy First Day of Fall!
