This will be the last autumn that I edit CaliforniaFallColor.com. It’s time for me to finally retire.

There are too many other things I need or would like to do during autumn, and when I attempt them, the site or my sanity suffers.

So, I’ve decided to sell the site to someone who shares my passion for words, images and autumn. I’m willing to ride shotgun this autumn, to guide whoever takes over the reins and show how I’ve  steered the site.

Should I not get a qualified buyer, I will not abandon CaliforniaFallColor.com until the last leaf of 2022 has fallen. Thereafter, it will go dark.

If you’ve got the passion to post great imagery and words, write to me. Let’s talk.

california fall color just won’t be the same without you, but we are excited for you and your projects, mr. poimiroo! please let us know how to keep up with you and your work! :o)

OH NO!!!! Totally understandable, but you will be deeply missed (how the heck are there no other comments on this post?)

Every year, we follow your site avidly, keeping eyes peeled for when and where to travel to see the best foliage in the Eastern Sierras. I shudder to think what we will do with out you. A well-deserved rest and retirement, but I am sad to see it.

Thank you for all these years of helping make our lives – and certainly our autumns – better!

    Best,
    Scott

Thanks for your support and the memories, Frank. I have received emails expressing thanks for the site, and was delayed in posting your and Soyoung’s comments. I’m optimistic that California Fall Color will continue, and that its readers will always have somewhere to turn for guidance on where it’s peaking. JP

    Hi John,

I’ve followed this website since fall of last year when I first started photographing fall color. It has been an invaluable resource and I can’t thank you enough for helping so many of us explore California. I wish you all the best on the next chapter, and hope that whoever continues the site (fingers crossed!) can continue the work that you started.

Oh nooooooo (for us). Happy to hear you’re putting your sanity first. I’ve followed for many years but have never commented. I have looked forward to your work each Fall and am so sad to hear to hear you go. Thank you for all the information and updates over the years. It’s because of this site I visited the Eastern Sierras for the first time for Fall and was absolutely blown away. I still tell people to this day how imperative it is that they go during Fall Colors. Thank you for giving that gift to me and to all of us.

I truly believe an even better caretaker of CaliforniaFallColor.com will follow. Presently, there are three persons who’ve expressed strong interest in shadowing me this autumn. Any one of them would be a great editor. I’m so pleased you heeded our suggestions and visited the Eastern Sierra. As your knowledge of fall color expands, as mine has, you begin to appreciate the pure subtlety of color seen in other areas of a state not widely known for its autumn beauty.

  5. Kathy Jonokuchi says:

Thank you John for your dedication on sharing the beauty of our state. You definitely deserve to preserve your sanity and move on to whatever your new passions lead you. (wild bird photography, perhaps? 😉 ) I upgraded my camera and lens because I went on safari to South Africa in July, so I hope to send better quality images for this season. This was my second trip to Africa after many decades, when I was shooting film and slides!
