Photographer David Olden crossed Sonora Pass (CA-108) on Saturday to find it glittering with gold.

He was at the Leavitt Lake turn off, which at the center of the show, there. There are isolated patches of color near the summit, though he reports most of the pass is still lime green and just turning yellow.

    • Michael,
You should fare famously. There will be lots of color to be seen at that time. To help plan your sojourns, I recommend that you refer to our Archives and look back at early October postings to see what was peaking in prior years. Also, when in Mammoth Lakes, stop by the Welcome Center and visit the Mammoth Tourism offices, Josh Wray there can recommend spots that are peaking while you’re in town.
