Cooling Off at Mount Laguna

Color spotter Shishir Iyer recently traded the heat wave in Southern California with more fall-like weather in the Mount Laguna area.

“Here in San Diego, it’s been record-breaking hot, but luckily it only takes around an hour of driving into the mountains to find some cooler, more fall-like weather,” Iyer said. “In the Mount Laguna area, the black oaks (pictured) are starting to change color; some trees have some significant oranges and yellows, but others are almost completely green still.”

“Fall color typically peaks around here by the last week of October, so we seem to be on track for that.”
