Another storm is making its way into the Golden State tonight, which means, most likely, the end of fall color in some areas such as Thomas F. Ragan Memorial City Beach in South Lake Tahoe.
Luckily color spotter Michelle Pontoni captured the last bits of its beautiful hues last week when she visited on Thursday, Nov. 6.
“We found this giant (pictured below and most likely a poplar tree) was still holding on to quite a bit of yellow at the Thomas F. Ragan Memorial City Beach in South Lake Tahoe,” Pontoni said. “Without a tape measure in my car, we tried out our math skills and estimated a circumference of about 9 feet.”
There is plenty of free parking off Sacramento Street, where you’ll find this beauty just 100 feet from the water. The stairs down from the parking lot led to a carpet of golden leaves, with a backdrop of the Tahoe National Forest to the north.
