Colors spotters Angie Plaisted and Barbara Richter were at it again … simultaneously capturing similar locations at similar times this weekend. I guess as the saying goes, great minds think alike.

Plaisted captured the Crowley Lake area on Friday, Oct. 10, thinking ahead to this week’s storms.

“Not full fall colors yet,” she said, “but I thought I’d better take pix today because the low in Crowley tomorrow is supposed to be 23° Brrr…”

Then, both Plaisted and Richter were drawn to the Laurel Creek “ribbon of gold” seen best from U.S. 395.

“I volunteered to pick up trash with Friends of the Inyo along the “Keep Long Valley Green” Caltrans section this morning [10/12/25],” Richter said. “About nine of us spent three hours and I think we made a dent!
On the way home, I wanted to capture the Laurel Creek Ribbon of Gold… success!”

Richter also captured one of the Crowley community.

Plaisted noticed the ribbon as she was heading out for some grocery shopping on Oct. 11.

“I couldn’t pass up stopping to snap a few (actually a LOT) of pix of these amazing fall colors before the snow falls on Monday!”

The winds are picking up today and the snow is expected to begin in a few hours in this section of the Eastern Sierra so we’ll see how things look by the end of the week.
