Cold weather is on its way to the Eastern Sierra but for now, we are going to just sit back, enjoy these photos from Bruce Wendler and soak in the fall colors of the area while we can.
As he explained, fall colors are still holding in lower camps on Highway 120 on the road from US 395 to Yosemite as of Oct. 16.
“These camps and pond are all the trees before the snow gate,” he explained of the photo above. “They are in peak shape. Camping is closed for the season.”
Wendler also visited the June Lake Loop and Lundy Canyon on Oct. 15 and reported the following:
The June Lake Loop is spotty with nice trees mixed with green. Colors are nice higher up like on Parker bench, but will be mixed at lower levels.
Over by Lundy Canyon some trees have been stripped and it is spotty in other places, but the view of the falls and ponds in the marsh are nice. Getting to the falls takes less than a mile hike.
PS Virginia Lakes is done but the lower elevations can still wow below Dunderberg Road.
