Editor’s Note: I traveled with two small children over the Thanksgiving holiday, which put me a bit behind on publishing several posts that came in last week. There’s no excuse, of course, which is why I am playing catch up now even though some of the photos are a little past the one week mark we generally adhere to.
Jennifer Natale visited the Napa Vine Trail on November 23. This is a multi-use pedestrian and bike path, that when complete, it will run from American Canyon to Calistoga. Currently, there are multiple sections open and she rode her bike from the section of the trail that runs from St. Helena to Calistoga, approximately 16 miles round trip.
“You’re mostly riding parallel to Highway 29, but the trail does veer through the lot of Bothe Napa state park and towards Calistoga, dips through some vineyards and then in to town,” she said.
Biking alongside and through the colorful vineyards was a unique way to see the valley’s fall colors, as well as views in the distance of Mt. Saint Helena.
Colors were at peak at the time she took her ride with some vineyards past peak.
“After biking, I stopped in Saint Helena and walked around town – it’s at peak. The store front and lone orange tree are from there.”
