A Fall Color Prayer of Peace

Color spotter Ruby Jay was passing by Providence St. John‘s Health Center in Santa Monica last week and saw the fall colors of the gingko trees at their peak.

“The golden color of the leaves against the blue sky was especially vibrant,” she said. “May Nature‘s beauty bring comfort to those who seek medical care here.”

Ginkgo leaf symbolism includes longevity, resilience, hope, and peace, stemming from the tree’s ability to live for thousands of years and survive harsh conditions. It also represents endurance, duality (in its two-lobed shape), vitality, and a sacred life force. In some traditions, the leaf symbolizes the cycle of life and balance between opposing forces.
