According to our friends at Mono County, in just five days, the trees that surround the campground sign when you first turn onto Poole Plant Road went from 50% green to full blown golden yellow. As you move up the canyon, trees are either golden yellow, orange or blown off, which puts this location at Peak, GO NOW! status.
Colors are at their peak along this scenic stretch below Tioga Pass, where aspens line a creek within the canyon with towering granite cliffs. Please use caution and watch for work vehicles in the area.
Elsewhere in the area, Lundy Lake and Canyon are winding down. The resort is closed for the year, and the colors are not far behind. There are additional scenic points past the resort but be aware that there may be water and mud on the road.
