Southern California colors spotters are excited for the season and they are finding California color in unique and beautiful places.
Ruby Jay has been making the rounds in Playa Vista.
On Oct. 16 she wrote, “The fall colors took on an interesting pattern with some parts of the trees in the late afternoon warm sunlight and the rest forming the silhouettes. While I was taking pictures, the church bell rang.”
“The sound of the bell at the Regents’ Memorial Tower and the sight of the Chapel of the Sacred Heart of the Loyola Marymount University up on the bluff added another depth of meaning to the fall colors.”
Aaron Thom was also out and about on Oct. 16 in Downtown LA.
“Nothing exciting, but I did spot signs of foliage in DTLA yesterday!,” he wrote. “Most trees still green though.”
Ruby was out again on Oct. 17 and 20, and reported the following:
Oct. 17 – “This beautiful crimson red leaves tree stood there surrounded by the other trees with golden or green color leaves, almost like a King or Queen. The colors became even more vivid as I moved to the other side facing the sun. “
The silver grasses were more purplish than yellow. They were dancing in the wind.
Oct. 20 – “Playa Vista is tiny in comparison to the other towns and cities in Southern California. So I thought I had seen all the fall colors there‘s to see. Well, I was totally wrong when I chanced upon Spruce Trail today. The colors are so rich, they are dazzling.”
Look for areas in Southern California to really ramp up next month.
