Long time californiafallcolor.com user, Eliza Catarongan, decided it was time to submit a report herself, and did so earlier this week.
And quite the report it is! Her information from Ponderosa garners a first report on this site, as fall color has never been reported here from this area. Well done, Eliza!
“My name is Eliza Catarongan and I am a photographer based in Southern California,” she said. “I’ve been a big fan of this community run website for a couple of years and have had so much fun tracking the fall colors throughout the years. This time I have a report of my own that I would like to contribute to the website. I based my trip to see these colors off of the previous reports on the website and took into account elevation.”
These photos of the Quaking Aspen are taken between Ponderosa and Quaking Aspen Campground in the Sequoia National Forest off of CA Highway 190.
“It was a cold weekend, with temperatures dropping below freezing overnight,” Catarongan explained. “My companion and I noticed some leaves that were previously green turning yellow in the morning after.”

The winter storm on Tuesday may affected the leaves, so please take that into consideration when visiting.
