June Lake From the Sky

The north end of the June Lake Loop is bursting with peak color on the mountainsides, while other areas are just beginning to turn. This seems to be the common theme of 2025 – some areas of a location are patchy while others are at peak.

The higher slopes are showing beautiful color – but a few high spots are pushing past peak. We received a couple of reports with images of these areas from the sky – a unique and beautiful angle for capturing peak areas that are usually only seen from roadsides. Scroll all the way down for a fun video.

The lake and road level of the Loop have progressed a bit from last week. Gull Lake is golden and Silver Lake is close behind. This weekend’s Leaves in the Loop event will be beautiful. If the weather cooperates you have a least another week, if not more, for fall beauty in this location.

Anytime you go in the coming weeks, the scenery is sure to impress – go now, go later, or find a way to stay here for a few weeks if you can – the Loop is magical in fall!
