A Perfect Palette at Bishop Creek

Eastern Sierra, Fall Color Report

Photographer Lucas Yan visited Bishop Creek Canyon over the weekend and reported a beautiful range of Near Peak to Peak color. This spot is in prime condition so make plans to visit soon. It should be in full peak in the next week or two.

Photographer notes (thoughts on capturing the perfect shot in current conditions):

Lake Sabrina: 50-100% (aspens on the left shore are peak, shrubbery to the right are a mix of green/and deep orange). This is probably one of the best times to get a photo since there’s a variety of colors. Although everything will be peak in a week or two, it tends to all be a single color and the photo a bit less interesting. Also, those aspens on the left will thin out.

Lake Sabrina Approach: 75% (some trees are at peak, others are green, but very easy to find a good tree or group of trees for photos).

North Lake Road: 50%-100% (some aspen groves are an orange/red and drying up, some groves are yellow, some groves are green, color change is uneven).

North Lake: 50% (aspens are still yellow/green across the lake, shrubbery is a nice orange/red above).

Aspens in the valley above Aspendell: 65% (a mixture of deep orange and greens, same note as Lake Sabrina where it makes for a good picture since you won’t have any past peak trees in the photo).
