Fall colors are starting to appear in Plumas County. It’s still a little early, but in about a week, many of the maples will begin to show vibrant autumn colors.

In quaint and quirky Quincy, known for its tree-lined streets, a few trees are already “showing off,” including a beautiful tree on Jackson Street, which is always the first to burst with striking red foliage.

Nearby, the Thieler Maple is also starting to change into numerous colors. The Big Leaf Maples along Bucks Lake Road are also beginning to turn.

Not far away, along Old Highway Road, Virginia Creeper in a vivid shade of red adorns an old fence.

What will accelerate “the turn” is colder nights, which are forecasted. For peepers, this means Plumas County will enjoy a splendid fall full of beautiful colors this year.
