Color spotter Jeff Titcomb reported that “the airport trees are a bit closer in color match this year.” He’s referring to the unique twin trees at the Quincy Airport that historically change color in the fall at different times.

“Typically the one on the right changes color earlier and the left one is much more green,” Titcomb said. “It is still the case this year but not as noticeable as in previous years.”

Titcomb’s observation seems in line with other unique color changes we are seeing this season. In some places across the state things are peaking earlier than usual, while other areas are seeing a mix of green, peak color and past peak color all at the same time.

It is a funky mix for 2024, but interesting and beautiful color changes, nonetheless.
