Driving up Highway 32 from Chico to Chester reveals fall’s steady progression, with vibrant colors continuing turn after turn.
On the drive, if you take the time to slow down and soak it in, especially around the Mill Creek and Deer Creek areas, you’ll notice that the leaves are just starting to shift, providing a patchy brilliance. Last weekend, the foliage was popping with yellows and deep reds, but it is still early and there’s a lot more color on the way.

If the stunning colors weren’t enough, keep an eye out for the wildlife that call Plumas County home.
Patrick Luscri spotted a deer calmly grazing in a meadow, totally unbothered by the surrounding beauty. This is one of those drives where you get a little bit of everything—fall colors, wildlife, and the quiet serenity of nature.
If you’ve been looking for a reason to get out and explore, now’s the time to plan a trip. Make sure to end your drive with a stop by Cravings Cafe, for a sweet, fall-themed treat.
The colors are here, the animals are out, and there’s still more to come before we hit the peak of the season. Don’t miss it—Plumas County’s autumn is calling!
