Eastern Sierra, Fall Color Report

Color spotter Barbara Richter has been watching the weather for the Eastern Sierra and knows that change is in the air. That’s why she especially enjoyed her short hike on Oct. 15 to her secret spot on Lower Old Mammoth Road.

It was a crystal clear morning and while she still saw a touch of color in the area she reported that it was just about done.

“Temps are going to drop dramatically bringing in some wind and possible snow at the higher elevations by the end of this week,” Richter said. “Time for everyone to watch road and weather conditions and be prepared for anything!”

If you plan to visit the Eastern Sierra in the next few days, be prepared for freezing conditions on Friday and Saturday morning.
