Mammoth Lakes is seeing a varying degree of color throughout the area.

Color reporters like Barbara Richter are finding interesting changes among the aspens.

“I took a nice little walk along the paved town bike path toward the (Snowcreek) ponds,” Richter said. She noted that some leaves are already gone, some are a muted yellow and many are still green.

“Always a beautiful place to stroll, however!” she exclaimed.

There are varying degrees of colors in the Mammoth Lakes Basin right now as well, depending on where you’re heading. There are some overachieving orange trees near Tamarack Lodge but still mixed-green coloring in most sections.

If you take Old Mammoth Road down from the Lakes Basin, there are also some oranges with Mammoth Rock set as their background. The willows in this area are still a mix of yellow and green, however.

The amenities in Mammoth Lakes also make it a good place to pop in on your leaf-peeping journey. Grab a bite to eat at one of the many restaurants or grab some supplies for your autumn adventure.
