Color spotter and professional photographer Philip Reedy continued his Colorado tour with a day in Purgatory. “The ski resort, not the place of suffering,” he joked.
Reedy found the colors there to be amazing.
“Each time I got in the car, I would drive 50 yards and have to stop again because the colors kept getting better,” he said “I will say that they are at peak to past peak here, with some bare groves but more still bursting with gold. Colorado seems to peak the last week of September, earlier than the Sierra.”
All of Reedy’s pictures were taken within a few miles of the resort.
“For anyone wanting to travel to see colors, staying at a ski resort in the off season is very reasonable, cheaper than hotels and much nicer,” Reedy said.
