What a difference a week makes, exclaimed color spotter Dave Pabinquit this week. “I’m back up in the Bishop Creek tributary for another look at the fall colors. Upper elevations, 8,500-9,000 feet are really starting to pop.”

Here’s his report from 9/25/24:

South Lake: Surveyor’s Meadow is near peak at the upper elevations on up to South Lake. However, further down at Mountain Lodge, the Water Fall, to 4 Jeffery Campground is only showing about 10% color.

Sabrina: Again, the higher elevations around the lake on down to North Lake Road are showing lots of color and near peak. The aspens just above Aspendell are pretty solidly green.

North Lake: There are pockets of color up and around the lake. The aspens on the north side of the lake on up the mountainside are just starting to color. The corridor of mature aspens on the south side of the lake are starting to color as well.
