Our good friend and fall color expert, John Poimiroo sent us a Special Report this week from his recent visit to Ireland. It’s always interesting to see what’s going on in the rest of the world during this season of change.
“Hints of autumn change were appearing in western Ireland this past week,” Poimiroo explained. “Though still Just Starting (0-10%), Ireland seemed timed to peak in mid October.”
“A hillside behind Kylemore Abbey, a Benedictine monastery in Connemara, County Galway, showed light flushes of yellow and orange color,” he added. “Irish Hazel that flanked a narrow cart path between Carran and Kinvara were beginning to warm up, while the Cong Wood surrounding an ancient cemetery at Rosshill in Clonbur showed hints of a Leprechaun’s gold peeking out between evergreen trees.”
