  1. Hello, and firstly thanks for all the fantastic posts! I’m planning a moto trip to Big Bear through the San Bernardinos on the weekend of the 25th. Do you predict there will still be ample color to see or is it more of a now or never situation in the area?
    Cheers

    • By the end of the month, all the color will most likely be gone in the San Bernardinos. It may be gone by as early as the end of this week. When we report GO NOW!, the color is near peak or at peak. That means even the slightest wind can strip trees of leaves and color. So, we urge readers to pack up and head to where it’s near peak within a week and certainly to at peak areas, immediately. An example is what’s happening today in the Eastern Sierra. Strong winds are predicted. The June Lake Loop is at peak. Strong winds are likely to strip June of most of its color. Our hope is that the winds will moderate, but if they blow as predicted, that could mean an immediate end to the color there. As far as the San Bernardinos, the photos we posted on Sunday show it at peak. In a week, even without wind, a lot of the leaves will have fallen. So, our best advice is to GO NOW!
